The 2025 Safari7s received a major boost today after Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL), under its flagship beer brand Tusker, announced a sponsorship package worth KSh 22 million. The announcement was made during the sponsorship launch held at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.

Tournament Director Kevin Wambura outlined the technical details of this year’s competition, noting that the 27th edition will attract 20 teams. Of these, 12 sides will feature in the men’s category, which will be divided into three pools, while the women’s category will consist of eight teams split into two pools.The action is set to kick off on Friday, October 10, with the opening round of matches, followed by the much-anticipated veterans’ category that will be staged under the Nyayo Stadium floodlights later that evening. Saturday will feature the second and third rounds, with the tournament climaxing on Sunday through the knockout stages, semi-finals, and finals.

Speaking at the launch, Christine Kariuki,head of KBL  mainstream beer, expressed the brand’s excitement at continuing its partnership with the Kenya Rugby Union.“It is both an honor and a pleasure for us at Tusker to once again be part of the Safari7s,” she stated.She further reflected on the longstanding relationship between Tusker and the tournament, pointing out that the brand’s involvement dates back to the 1990s. Kariuki noted that it had been “truly exciting to watch the game grow over the years,” highlighting Tusker’s pride in contributing to that growth.

The sponsorship package is valued at KSh 22 million, broken down into KSh 12 million in cash and KSh 10 million in kind. The in-kind support will go towards creating the Tusker After Party Village, a unique fan zone designed to give rugby enthusiasts not just the thrill of world-class rugby but also the ultimate entertainment experience.Kariuki further emphasized that such investments go beyond sport. She explained that supporting institutions and brands through sponsorships ultimately strengthens the broader community.

Kenya Rugby Union Vice Chairman Moses Ndale expressed his gratitude to Tusker for their significant support and their unwavering partnership through the years. He acknowledged that such sponsorships are vital to the growth of the game in Kenya. Ndale also took the opportunity to rally rugby fans across the country to turn up in numbers and be part of the 27th  edition of Africa`s premier rugby sevens tournament-THE 2025 SAFARI7S!
