Day one of the CapeTown7s saw Shujaa win one match and lose two. Read the match report on the game against France here.

The second match had Shujaa beat Russia 34-0. Brian Tanga, Sammy Oliech and William Ambaka would each land a try in the first half with Oliech managing to successfully add one conversion. Scores at half time read 17-0 in favour of Shujaa.

Daniel Sikuta added his name on the scorers list though the conversion would sail wide. The two debutantes, Arthur Owira and Samuel “Smurf” NgetheĀ  landed a try each on what was their first match in the HSBC Sevens World Series. Oliech could only converted Ngethe’s try for the full time score to read 34-0.

The third and final match of the CapeTown7s day one saw Shujaa face hosts South Africa. Ruhan Nel would give his side an early 7-0 lead which was quickly countered by a Willy Ambaka successfully converted try to level the scores to 7-7. Kyle Brown landed the second try for South Africa and Branco Du Preez split the posts with the conversion. Scores at Half time read 14-7 in favour of the hosts.

Second half was a South African affair as Philip Synman dotted down the third successfully converted try that was then followed by a Seabelo Senatla try to seal the scores at 26-7 at full time.

Shujaa will play Samoa in the first Challenge trophy quarter at 11:36pm on Sunday 10th Dec.
