Shujaa lifted the Challenge Trophy in the 2018 London7s with a 33-19 win over the Wales.

Wales were first on the scoreboard as Afon Bagshaw dotted down a centre post try. It was however short lived as Ambaka put Shujaa back in the game as a perfectly timed offload from Andrew Amonde saw Shujaa draw 7-7. In a span of three minutes, Jeff Oluoch and Collins Injera landed a try each for Shujaa while Luke Morgan scored the second try for the Welsh. Scores at half time reaf 21-14.

Second half saw a lovely interplay between Eden Agero and Herman Humwa extend Shujaa’s lead to 26-14. The Welsh not in a hurry to give up, showed the Kenyan defense a clean pair of heels as Jared Rosser reduced the gap to 26-19 as he touched down at the corner with the conversion sailing wide.

In a bid to take the lead, the Welsh’s attack speed was cut short off a forward pass inside Shujaa’s 22: The Kenyan scrum that followed saw Shujaa spread the ball wide to Jeff, who left his defender chasing after a ghost as he ran straight for the center post, making Kenya the London 7s Challenge Trophy winners.

Gathering a total of 8 points off the tournament, Shujaa have reached the 100 mark having collected a total of 101 points in the 2017/2018 HSBC World Sevens Series with one final leg to go.
