Shujaa and Scotland put up a great performance in the LA Sevens 13th place final, both teams leveling up in both attack and defense. However, it was Scotland who finished on top with a try in the extra time to claim the 29-24 victory.

Scotland’s Robbie Fergusson scored two tries in quick succession giving his side a 12-0 lead before Ambaka and Alec Coombes traded a try each for a 17-5 half time score.  In the second half, Shujaa ran in three tries through Billy Odhiambo, Sammy Oliech and Captain Andrew Amonde momentarily taking the 24-17 lead.

A slip up in the defense cost Shujaa the lead allowing Max Mcfarland to cut through and land his side’s fourth try that leveled the scores to 24-24 at full time. Scotland retained the ball at the start of the extra time and this led up to Alec Coombes landing his brace and securing his side’s victory.

Shujaa finishes 14th at the tournament picking up three points which brings their total tally to 29 and overall eleventh on the HSBC World Sevens Series table.
