An 8- 7 Pool A win over St. Mary’s Yala saw Kakamega make it two wins from two,reaching the semifinal at the KSSSA National Schools Fifteens Championship in Embu on Wednesday 11 April 2018. The other Pool A fixture saw Miathene play to a 10-10 draw against Alliance.

Also making the semis were Upper Hill who stopped hosts Kangaru 61-0 and Menengai who beat Galana 58-3. Menengai and Upper Hill clash on Thursday to determine who tops Pool B.
