Shujaa have started the Los Angeles 7s with a come from behind 12-7 victory over Australia in Pool C action at the Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday 25 February 2023.
Stuart Dunbar converted Tim Clements try as the Aussies led 7-0 but Dennis Abukuse responded for Shujaa at the stroke of half time, Tony Omondi converting to see the sides level at the break.
Abukuse would then seal the victory with his second try after the interval, a big win for Damian McGrath’s charges who are battling to be among the 12 teams for next season’s World Series.
Team captain Nelson Oyoo, speaking after the match, said, “We worked on keeping possession and maintaining our discipline and it worked for us.”
