Mombasa Sports Club through Chairman, Mr. Vijay Bij, has offered to support the Kenya Rugby Union Training and Education program by availing some of their facilities during courses. The offer includes the provision of conference facilities, the use of equipment at the Sports Club every month for the next one year starting 30th August 2025. The Sports Club will also provide accommodation and meals for either an educator or a trainer during these courses.
KRU’s Director of Rugby and Pathways Manager will take charge of the Level 1 and 2 fifteen-a-side coaching course on 30th and 31st August. Being a World Rugby Trainer, he will lead the Level 2 coaching course while World Rugby Educator Oscar Owaga will be in charge of the Level 1 coaching course.
“The partnership with Mombasa Sports Club is a pivotal moment for the club and to Coast rugby. It presents an opportunity for the region to develop a quality workforce. It will only be a matter of time before the results on the field reflect this investment in Training and Education. Other clubs and regions are encouraged to take a leaf out of Mombasa’s book and start developing their workforce,”said Paul Odera
So far, a total of 25 participants have confirmed attendance, 13 in Level 1 and 12 in Level 2 and all are from the Coast Region. Level 1 Coaching 15s online prerequisites are:
