Dubai 7s: Shujaa 5 South Africa 48 : Match Report

Leading 5-0 with an early try after kickoff, Shujaa were handed a 48-5 hiding by South Africa in their second Pool A encounter at the Dubai Sevens on Friday 1 December 2017.

Jeff Oluoch stole in from the blind to see Shujaa go 5-0 up against the defending tournament and World series champions.

The Blitzboks responded with two successive tries from Seabelo Senatla to go 12-5 up before Cecil Afrika scored to see them go 17-5 at the interval.

Senatla added his third of the match after the restart, played in by Afrika to go over the chalk, South Africa pulling further away, the score 22-5 in their favor.

Branco du Preez put Shujaa under more pressure,beating the Kenyan defenders to land a converted try, 29-5 to the Blitzbok before Justin Geduld scored moments after his entry into the game, the conversion sailing through for 36-5 and it was Kwagga Smith’s turn to add to Shujaa’smisery, 41-5 which soon ended with Rosco Speckman’s converted effort, the 48-5 result needing Kenya to beat Uganda in their last encounter while counting on South Africa to beat Canada to keep their cup quarterfinal hopes alive.
