KRU’s Training and Education department is in Nakuru County conducting 3-day Strength and Conditioning courses at the ASK Nakuru Showgrounds. Day one focuses on L1 SnC course for children, day two is L1 SnC course for teens and the third and final day is the L1 SnC course for adults. The courses are being conducted by KRU’s Training and Education Coordinator George Ndemi together with Kenya Simbas Strength and Conditioning Coach Michael Owino

The online pre-requisites for these courses are 1. Rugby ready, 2. Anti-doping, 3. Concussion for the general public, 4. Introduction to coaching, 5. Key factors, 6. Functional roles, 7. Coaching children, 8. Covid-19 for players/coaches
9. S&C Pre L1 Children, 10. S&C pre-L1 youth, 11. S&C pre L1 1 Adult.

Speaking on the choice to hold these courses in the Rift Valley Region, George Ndemi said they chose to start with this region because it has a strong age-grade school program and these courses will help the coaches achieve conditioning in a structured way as early as 12yr old children all the way to senior level.

“The overall goal is to have a structured way of conditioning children, youth and adults. This impact is felt when we see less injuries in the future as well as conditioned players who can play at the highest level by the time they reach 18yrs of age,” concluded Ndemi.

The same courses will be conducted in the other regions later in the year.
