Top Fry Nakuru RFC, one of the top-flight clubs in the country was recently dealt a huge blow as one of their avid supporters Justine Oira, popularly known as ‘Tyso’ passed away on 10th March 2021.
“Tyso was a big brother to me and he was a father to some of our players. He has always been very kind to all players, supporting us in the various competitions sometimes financially. We are going to truly miss him and may God rest his soul in peace,” said Captain Edwin Makori.
“Tyso was a gentleman who was truly passionate about everything he did. He worked really closely with each and every person who crossed paths with him, from rugby fans, his family members, and his friends. Personally, I have lost a friend who always shared an encouraging message whenever things got thick. I will truly miss him,” added Felix Oloo, the Club’s Head Coach.
True to their words, rugby fans across the country can attest to the fact that Tyso was the embodiment of a rugby fan. He was always a feature at the international fixtures and a pain for opposing teams rallying player 16 from the stands
He followed his team across counties and even made his way to Uganda to support Kenya Simbas and Lionesses in the Elgon Cup fixtures. He was at the center of the fans singing and cheering Team Kenya during internationals and his presence will truly be missed.

The Club Secretary, Edward Moseti shared this heartfelt message, “I lost a friend so fine as a brother. I wish I could give you many more years. Your friendship was a blessing I will always treasure. Big thank you for the memories you left and the lives you touched. We were family and not just friends. I will always carry you in spirit till we meet up again. No doubt God only takes the best.”
KRU Chairman Oduor Gangla and the entire rugby fraternity extend their condolences to Nakuru and Tyso’s family during this trying time. “Tyso will be sorely missed and was honored by a minute of silence before kick bird during the weekends Kenya Cup matches, as a testament to the games’ loss,” said the Chairman.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday 18th March at the SDA Crater Church in Nakuru from 1300hrs. On Friday 19th March, the cortege will leave Umash Funeral Home-Nakuru at 7:00 am for the burial at Elementaita – Mitimingi Settlement scheme.
