Shujaa kicked off the Sydney7s campaign with a 14-28 loss to Fiji on early Saturday morning.
Collins Injera landed the first of two Shujaa tries as he skillfully cut through the first two defenders before swinging past the third to land a center post try. He added the conversion for an early 7-0 lead. Fiji followed suit scoring two tries before the breather and converting both successfully taking the 14-7 lead at the break.
The second half scores mirrored those of the first, Shujaa scoring one converted try and Fiji scoring two. Fiji scored their third and fourth tries before Johnstone Olindi went over the whitewash for Shujaa’s second try in the last play full-time scores reading 28-14.
Before the match kicked off, Technical Director Paul Feeney said that they were looking forward to playing two of the best teams in the world starting with Fiji and the series leaders, New Zealand. “We will learn a lot about ourselves in these matches and we’re looking forward to it.”
Shujaa meets Wales at 12:05 pm (EAT) in the second Pool match before playing New Zealand tomorrow morning at 5:41 am.
