Shujaa are in Pool B of the Sydney 7s alongside the New Zealand Sevens runners up USA, Canada and France.

Day one of the NZSevens saw them lose the first two matches and win the third Pool match against France. Read the report here. They kicked off their day on a high, beating Tonga 19-12 in the quarterfinal with tries from Johnstone Olindi (2) and Jacob Ojee with Olindi converting two of the three tries.

They progressed to the Challenge Trophy semifinal where they beat Argentina 24-5. Ojee dotted down twice, Cyprian Kuto and Daniel Taabu added the other two tries with Taabu managing to convert two of the four tries.


In the Challenge Trophy final, Shujaa scored one try through Vincent Onyala while England proved to be the better side as they landed six tries and added three conversions for the full time scores to read 36-7.

Shujaa wrapping up their campaign in the 10th position at the New Zealand Sevens with seven points but overall, they are thirteenth with eleven points.

They’ll kick off the #Sydney7s tournament on Saturday 2nd February at 1:44am against Canada, at 7:34am they’ll take on USA and end their day one action with France at 11:17am.
