The Simbas are up against fellow rising rugby giants in Hong Kong this November during the Hong Kong Cup of Nations that runs  from 10th to 18th November.

They have been pitted against Russia, Hong Kong and Chile. The tournament is set to take place at King’s Park Sports Ground on Friday 10th and Tuesday 14th while the finals will be held at the Hong Kong Football Club on Saturday 18th November in Hong Kong. Other participating teams will be Zimbabwe, Portugal and Papua New Guinea.

During last week’s team naming, Team Manager Wangila Simiyu expressed confidence in the team stressing that the team was well prepared for the competition. The coach; Jerome Paarwater reiterated that the Simbas were not going to ‘participate’ but to win the trophy. Skipper Wilson Kopondo has on his part stated that the team is out to perform well in Hong Kong and dedicated every performance to the memory of departed squad member Mike Okombe who passed away on Saturday 4 November 2017. Indeed, the team’s rallying call in Hong Kong is Simba Ni Okombe.

We urge all fans to rally behind the team and be part of the Simbas success in Hong Kong and onwards while cherishing the memories, life and times of Mike Okombe.
