Shujaa rallied from a 0-14 score to finish third in Pool B with a 24-19 win over Uruguay at the Sydney Sevens on Saturday morning.

They were caught cold by converted tries from Diego Ardao and Mateo Vinals before skipper Nelson Oyoo scored on the stroke of half time for 5-14 score.

Alvin Otieno went over after the restart before Oyoo landed his brace, Tony Omondi converting for a 17-14 score. Omondi then scored and converted his own try to make it 24-14 before Ardao scored a late try for Uruguay.

Shujaa will play Spain in the 9th place quarterfinal at 2.16am on Sunday morning.

They earlier fell 0-33 to New Zealand and 5-31 to South Africa, Kevin Wekesa the sole try scorer in this fixture.
