Shujaa finished the New Zealand 7s in 10th place after losing the 9th place playoff 5-26 to Samoa on Sunday morning.

Alvin Otieno was Shujaa’s sole try scorer in this fixture.

They earlier defeated Canada 21-5 and Tonga 33-19 to set up the clash against Samoa who had defeated them 31-5 in Pool A action on Saturday.

Otieno scored against Tonga with skipper Nelson Oyoo adding a brace with Edmund Anya and George Ooro landing one apiece as Tony Omondi kicked over four conversions.

Ooro, Anya and Willy Ambaka scored in the win against Canada with Omondi managing three conversions.
