The Kenya Rugby National Sevens team finished sixth overall in the second leg of the Dubai7s tournament after going down 5-10 to Great Britain in the 5th place playoff match.

Four minutes into the first first, it was Shujaa who registered the first points in this playoff as Vice Captain Jeffrey Oluoch went over the whitewash. The conversion unfortunately was short. Shujaa leading7-0 with three minutes to play. The lead would however be neutralized by the Britons as they landed their unconverted try off a counter attack from Shujaa’s half, leveling the scores to 5-5 at the break after Robbie Ferguson went over the try line.

Halftime scores reading 5-5.

In the second half, inspite of Shujaa’s defensive efforts, Great Britain still managed to sneak in a second try through Fergusson who went over for his brace that eventually secured their 10-5 victory over Shujaa.

Earlier, in the 5th place semifinal, Shujaa was unstoppable in every facet of the game as they wrecked havoc both in attack and defense. Jefferey Oluoch and Johnstone Olindi went over the tryline in the first half with Tony Omondi converting Olindi’s try for a 12-0 half time score in favour of Shujaa. In the second half, it was Tony Omondi who landed a brace with both tries sandwiching Alvin Otieno’s 5-pointer. Omondi converted his first try but missed the other two tries in the second half for the full time score to read 29-0 in favour of Shujaa.
