Rugby lovers will be treated to a potentially thrilling test match between Kenya’s Simbas and Germany. The match which was approved in accordance with the World Rugby Regulation 16 will be played at the RFUEA grounds on 27th May 2017.

Germany, a country that is mainly known for football, have been scaling through the ranks, rising as high as 22nd before settling on their current 25th position in the latest World Rugby rankings.  They have been  ‘gaining confidence’ as they seek to fight for a Rugby World Cup berth for the first time ever. Their most significant result thus far is that sensational 41-38 win over Romania  in Offenbach, Germany during the 2017 Rugby Europe Championship on 11th February.

Kenya, too is certainly eyeing a RWC 2019 ticket after agonizingly coming close to qualifying for the 2015 edition. They have steadily worked their way up the world rankings, rising as high as 22nd before settling for their current 24th position. They have over the past two years claimed some notable results including a 41-15 win over Portugal, a hard fought 36-27 win against Spain  as well as that memorable 61-15 blitz of Zimbabwe in Harare, only their second ever win over Zimbabwe in Harare, and their biggest victory all round.

The anticipated match will mark the start of Kenya’s International Rugby season. The Simbas will also face it out with Hong Kong in a two match series; the first fixture being Saturday 19th August and the second fixture on Saturday 26th August.

The Kenya-Germany match will also set the tone for the Simbas Rugby Africa Gold Cup campaign with home fixtures against Uganda on June 24th, Tunisia on 8th July, Senegal on 15th July before playing away to Zimbabwe on 22nd July and Namibia on 29th July.
