Fresh from their Prinsloo triumph, KCB had to settle for fifth place, while Kabras Sugar bounced back in style to clinch the title after defeating fellow Rai derby side Menengai Oilers in the final. The victory marked Kabras’ first title of the circuit and brought them right back into contention.
After a brief August hiatus, the circuit resumed in Nairobi at the Kabeberi 7s, where KCB returned to winning ways. The bankers successfully defended their Kabeberi title, strengthening their grip at the top of the standings. For Kabras, however, the leg proved costly as the Sugarmen finished eighth, an outcome that had a significant ripple effect on their overall position.Kabras responded emphatically at the Driftwood 7s in Mombasa. The Sugarmen bounced back to beat KCB in the final, picking up another crucial title and ensuring the race for the circuit crown remained open.
The battle continued into September at the Embu 7s, where the two sides once again met in the final. This time, it was KCB who had the edge, edging Kabras 12-10 in a tightly contested decider. The victory further cemented KCB’s position at the summit and gave the bankers a six-point advantage heading into the final weekend.
Now, everything comes down to the Christie 7s.KCB head into the final leg on 98 points, with Kabras Sugar just six points behind on 92. With the two sides separated by such a narrow margin, the outcome in Nairobi could dramatically change the final standings.
