Kenya Shujaa head coach Kevin Wambua has named his squad for the Africa Men’s Sevens tournament in Mauritius, with the team set to depart on Thursday, 1 October, ahead of the two-day competition scheduled for 3–4 October.
The Mauritius tournament is the second competition in the revised 2026 Africa Men’s Sevens Series and will bring together eight teams competing at the SPARC International Rugby Stadium in Cascavelle. Kenya will line up in Pool B alongside Namibia, Réunion and Madagascar.
Wambua has opted for a blend of experience and emerging talent, with four players set to make their Shujaa debuts on the international stage.
The debutants are Patrick Sabatia, Glacious Owino, Dennis Livoi and Lucky Onyango, with their selection highlighting the depth of talent emerging from the recently concluded National Sevens Circuit.
The squad will be co-captained by Elvis Olukusi and Rayvone Ambale, who will provide leadership as Shujaa begin their continental campaign.
Experienced campaigners Gabriel Ayimba and Brian Mutua are also included, alongside a number of players who have featured regularly in the Shujaa setup, including Clinton Amukwachi, David Nyangige, Arnold Agonda and Victor Odhiambo.

The selection continues the national sevens programme’s focus on blending established international players with emerging talent. The provisional Shujaa squad announced earlier in September similarly featured a mixture of experienced internationals and players coming through from the National Sevens Circuit.
Kenya enters the Mauritius tournament as one of the continent’s established sevens sides. Under the revised Rugby Africa format, Kenya and South Africa retain the top two positions in the 2026 Africa Men’s Sevens rankings, while the Mauritius tournament will determine rankings among the participating teams placed below them.
Shujaa’s Pool B Campaign
Shujaa will open their campaign on Saturday, 3 October, against Namibia at 8:44am EAT before returning to action later in the day against Réunion at 11:50 am EAT.
Their final Pool B fixture will be against Madagascar at 2:40pm EAT.
The Mauritius assignment will provide valuable international competition for Wambua’s charges as they continue preparations for the 28th edition of Safari7s, which will be staged at Nyayo National Stadium from 9–11 October. .
