Tusker Boosts Safari Sevens with KSh14 Million Sponsorship
Nairobi, 1st October 2026: Kenya’s premier rugby sevens tournament, Safari Sevens, has received a major sponsorship boost after Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL), through its flagship brand Tusker, committed KSh14 million towards the 28th edition of the tournament.
The partnership will see Tusker serve as the Official Alcohol Beverage and Entertainment Partner of Safari Sevens, set for 9th - 11th October 2026 at Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi.
The investment will support the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) in the organisation and delivery of the three-day tournament, while also enhancing the entertainment and fan experience around the competition.
The partnership further strengthens Tusker’s growing involvement in Kenyan rugby throughout the 2026 - 2027 season.
Speaking during the sponsorship announcement at Tusker Brewhouse, Tusker Sports Brand Manager, Keza Mpyisi, said the investment reflects the brand’s continued commitment to the development of rugby in Kenya.
“Rugby has a special place in Kenya, and Tusker is proud to continue playing a role in the growth of the sport. Our KSh14 million investment in Safari Sevens is about supporting the tournament and, importantly, helping create an experience that players and fans can enjoy,” said Mpyisi.
Kenya Rugby Union CEO, Thomas Odundo welcomed the partnership, noting that preparations for Safari Sevens are well advanced, with the Union focused on ensuring all aspects of the tournament are in place ahead of kick-off.
Kenya Rugby Union chairperson, Harriet Okach thanked Tusker for always walking with KRU and looking forward for a successful Safari 7s . She also urged the public to get their tickets and come experience the ultimate rugby 7s showdown. The 28th edition of Safari Sevens will bring together a strong field of local and international teams for three days of high-level rugby, entertainment and fan engagement at Nyayo National Stadium.
Kenya Shujaa co-captain, Samuel Asati said the team is focused on preparing for the challenge.
“Playing at home in front of our fans makes the tournament particularly important to us. We know the level of competition will be high because there are top teams coming in, so our focus is on preparation and executing what we have worked on as a team,” said Asati.
With the countdown to Safari Sevens now entering its final stretch, the partnership with Tusker adds further momentum to preparations for what promises to be three days of competitive rugby and entertainment.
Safari Sevens will run from 9th - 11th October at Nyayo National Stadium, with fans set to witness some of the best men’s and women’s sevens rugby from Kenya and beyond.
